Outsiders One Socs vs. Greasers
There are many differences between the greasers and the socs. One of the main differences between the socs and the greasers is the socs have way more money than the greasers. Besides money, the greasers live on the east side and the socs live on the west side. Another difference is what they wear. The socs wear flannel shirts with blue jeans and the greasers wear white t-shirts with blue jeans. Also, on page 1, paragraph 1, it states that the greasers have long hair that they grease back so it would not cover their eyes. On the other hand, the socs have shorter hair that they wear flipped over to the side. The way they act is another difference. The socs act like the are the best acted kids in the world, however they are not like they act at all. For example, the greasers proudly smoke but the socs act like they would never smoke a day in their life, but they do smoke. ~So what does that smoking reference indicate about the two groups of boys? That is a way you make an inference. Is one group more 'honest' than the other? I think so! ~Mrs. Best
Hello Ryan,
This is Jane here. Over all, I really liked your paragraph, but there were a few areas where it could have been a little stronger. First off all, I really liked your beginning sentence, but I felt that there really wasn't any ending sentence; or at least it wasn't very strong. Instead of just ending, you could have added a little more feeling into it, or added more detail. The ending and beginning, can sometimes be the most important part.

We all know that the fifth commandment is: Thou shall not kill. With that in mind, tell me what you would be feeling AND what you would do now if you were Johnny at the end of Chapter 4.
If I had killed someone like Johnny did I would feel very bad about it. If i had killed someone it would never leave me alone. It would be in my conscience forever. I would be haunted every hour of my life. Every time I would try to get my mind off of it I would have a flashback at taking the person's life away. I would feel like I had just ruined my life. I could never get a job because the cops would have my name and I would get thrown in jail for life. Also, I would keep thinking about the afterlife.
If I was Johnny I would go somewhere safe where no one would suspect me of killing someone. I would also be worried about my family. The questions going in my head would be, Will I see my family again?, Will I ever be forgiven?, How will I survive?. I would be worried of the cops coming and tracking me down. That is how I would feel if I were Johnny. ~With those thoughts in your head, why do you think running away would be an answer? ~Mrs. Best
B. Explain what Ponyboy finds out about Randy and the other Socs at the end of Chapter 7.
At the end of chapter seven Ponyboy and Two-Bit are sitting on a bench smoking at the gas station when all of a sudden the Randy's blue Mustang pulls up. Randy gets out of the car and asks if he and Ponyboy can talk together. Randy tells Ponyboy that he isn't gonna show up to the big rumble tonight. Randy tells Ponyboy that he is sick of all the fighting going on and wants everything to just end. Ponyboy finds out that Randy and all the other socs are just regular people. ~Short and sweet - and very true. ~Mrs. Best
Hey Ryan, This is Nick, your paragraph about the end of chapter 7 was good. You showed good detail in the first sentence and how Randy all of a sudden pulled up to the gas station with his blue Mustang, very good detail. Maybe you could have talked about the end of Chapter 7 a little bit more. I think you could have added more detail to the ending sentence, but overall it was really good. Nice job.

A. When we get to know people better, we usually like them more. If that's true, what could we do if we really don't like someone?
If we really don't like someone we could get to know them better. If we do this chances are you will like then more. Also, if they really don't like you back then try to figure out there side. See what it would be like the live their life. If you get to know someone more you may become best friends with them. That is what I think you should do if you really don't like someone.
~This does not tell me how you would go about that? What would be the first step you would have to take? ~Mrs. Best
